Art & Learning is a project about renewing art and learning by exploring new ways of cooperation empowered by digital technology and social media. Our aim is to stimulate closer cooperation and co-creation between art, learning, digital technology, social media and people with different backgrounds. We want to create mutually interesting co-operation, explore new ways to create art, facilitate new relationships, stimulate creativity and at the same time renew learning.
The world premier of an artwork co-created in the Art & Learning initiative was transformed to physical prints by the successful kick-starter funded venture onehundredforty.com and presented at the Creative Coast Festival on May 29 at NetPort Science Park in Karlshamn, Sweden. It is the result of a social media engagement where people has contributed and translated Art & Learning into their native languages.
Another ongoing project involves exploring ways to accelerate learning Swedish by connecting newly arrived children from other countries with swedish children through a common digital workboard where they together will co-create language learning. Their first task is to explain the swedish word “vår”(english “spring”); what is it, how does it feel, what do you do.
– How do you explain spring to someone from Somlia, for example, who is not used to having four seasons, says Gaca Radetinac. It triggers and stimulates learning in as well language as geography and culture.
Gaca is the headmaster for schools in Tingsryd and also works with language learning development for Skolverket (The Swedish National Agency for Education). She is the idea-creator for pedagogic approach in Art & Learning.
– The kids are very proud and happy that some of their initial texts are shown as part of the vernissage, Gaca continues.
